2012 Small Sided Games information

Small Sided Games (SSG) is the current match format for those players registered in U6 – U10 age groups. In 2012, the U10’s will also be classed as SSG and will no longer be graded. This change will mean that team numbers in the U10 competition will be reduced from 11 a side with 2 substitutes to 9 a side with 2 substitutes.

U6 and U7s will play with the same 4 a side format on field, however, the substitute numbers will be increased from 2 per team to 3 per team. A maximum of 7 players per team.  There are no goal-keepers. 

U8 and U9s’ teams have 7 players a side, on the field, including a goal-keeper.  Teams will consist of up to 9 players including substitutes.

Forming SSG Teams at BJFC

Teams are to be formed on the sorting days nominated below.  All U6 - U10 SSG players registered with BJFC are required to attend sorting days, along with a parent/caregiver to avoid missing out on their preferred team.  Players generally group in clusters of schools, friends, siblings and past team-mates.

Unregistered players will NOT be permitted to participate.Please ensure your childs registration is completed by 2pm on Saturday 11th of February 2012.

This informal process is used to encourage a fun and friendly environment for our younger players & their families.

This year we have dedicated a whole afternoon to each age group to ensure we don’t rush things and give plenty of time to each age group.

Outside the clubhouse, Para Street, Balgownie;

U6s          Monday 20^th February,           6pm - 7pm

U7s          Tuesday 21^st February,           6pm - 7pm

U8s          Wednesday 22^nd February,     6pm - 7pm

U9s          Thursday 23^rd February,          6pm - 7pm

U10s        Friday 24^th February,              6pm - 7pm

Please be aware that if you do not attend your childs age groups nominated sorting day and they are NOT placed in a team by 7pm on that day, the registrar will allocate them to a team. Any alterations to team allocations after the completion of the sorting day will be subject to approval by the registrar and executive committee.

Should your child wish to play up in an age group above their natural age group. you must complete an out of age application prior to the close of registrations at 2pm on Saturday 11th of February 2011.
